How do you say goodbye to a place that’s been your home for the past 15 years? The four walls holding your memories, witnessing countless coffee dates and all your children’s firtsts…
How do you let go of people, steady by your side, during the ups but especially during the lows. The friendly faces, so loving and accepting. The hands that carried you through rough seas and the most joyous of imes.
These past weeks have been filled with packing, reflecting, and remembering. My hands holding old, beloved toys. Silent tears of farewell.
The rooms stripped of our personal belongings, yet the familiarity still lingers. Traces of us like whispers in the air. We’re still here, but my thoughts drift more and more to what lies ahead. I am still here.
Steadying myself while the chapter closing.
One more time, I have to lift my roots, dig them out of what once was. Wrapping them around my heart, a bit too tightly.
Two more weeks. And we’re on the move.
